James J. Ryan MSW has provided personal counseling and comprehensive clinical hypnosis services in Rockford, IL for over 40 years. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been certified for Clinical Incident and Stress Management by Jeffery T. Mitchell, Ph.D. He has been a professor at the University of Illinois and Rockford College. Mr. Ryan has worked as a mental health disaster worker for the American Red Cross in a variety of crisis settings including 9/11 (2001), Hurricane Katrina (2005), and the N.I.U. shooting incident (2008).


Specialties and Professional Memberships

Mr. Ryan offers a wide variety of treatments, including relationship difficulties, fears, phobias, traumas, medical and stress disorders. Some of his specialties include smoking cessation, stress management, pain management, thought field therapy, emotional freedom therapy, EMDR, and clinical hypnosis. 


He is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, The National Association of Social Workers, a board-certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, and a clinical member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
